Hockey Fights Cancer Night
In partnership with OhioHealth and the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer
October 25, 2011
In partnership with OhioHealth, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9 and the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness month, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation will welcome heroes and their families to the annual Hockey Fights Cancer game to fight cancer on Tuesday, October 25 as the Blue Jackets take on the Red Wings.
The Foundation hosts this annual game to raise awareness for this dreaded disease and raise funds for both critical research and support programs for the patients and their families. Driven by the tireless dedication of the our Hats For Heroes founder, Tyler Wright, the Foundation has raised over $1 million dollars since 2000 in support of this signature program. The Hats For Heroes program has become more than simply a vehicle to raise money for pediatric cancer, it has become a way to touch lives.
The October 25 game is dedicated to the Foundation's pediatric cancer heroes and their families and will feature the below fundraising efforts and awareness programs:

#1 Steve Mason custom game worn and signed Hockey Fights Cancer purple goalie gear online auction
Goalie Steve Mason will show his support for the cause by wearing purple pads, glove and
blocker on October 25. Following the game, Mason will

be individually available via online auction on BlueJacketsFoundation.org from
Tuesday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday, Nov. 1.
2011-12 Hats For Heroes Unveiling
October 25 will be fans' first opportunity to purchase the new 2011-12 Hats For Heroes hat. Fans can purchase an unsigned hat for $20 or a hat signed by their favorite Blue Jacket for $30 throughout the Arena and at the Foundation Kiosk behind section 111. The Hats For Heroes program was founded in 2000 to support the fight against pediatric cancer through the sale of merchandise, funding breakthrough research and bringing the smile to the face of a child battling any life threatening illness.

Hockey Fights Cancer T-Shirts
Fans can support the Hats For Heroes program by purchasing Hockey Fights Cancer t-shirts. Purple is the color that represents all types of cancers and is the theme color for the NHL's annual awareness campaign.
