Blue Jackets Players' Programs
Hospital Visits
Since its inception in 2001, the Hats For Heroes program has quickly become the signature program of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation. All of the Blue Jackets players are actively involved in the program by regularly autographing hats and making appearances on the oncology/hematology units at Nationwide Children's and OhioHealth's Hospitals to greet patients and deliver personalized hats.
Rick Nash would like to send a special welcome to the kids seated in the 61 Club! Rick has donated tickets for every game this season to youth in Central Ohio who participate in his 61 Club Good Health Challenge. Teaming up the Columbus Dispatch Newspapers in Education program, Rick encourages kids to develop healthy habits by keeping track of their healthy choices on a scorecard for one month. Each season, fans are invited to join the Columbus Blue Jackets, #61 Rick Nash, and the Dispatch Media Group to help keep Columbus families warm by donating to the “Jackets for Jackets” coat drive. Read More.
Russell’s Rascals
Kris Russell is excited to welcome families from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus to Blue Jackets games this season as part of his Russell’s Rascals. Kris is dedicated to teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club to empower all young people to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. View Russell's Rascals video.
Mason’s Wall
Steve Mason is proud to team up with the Columbus City Schools this season to welcome students to each Blue Jackets game who have achieved excellence in academics, attendance, and leadership. These students making up Mason’s Wall have been nominated and rewarded by their peers and teachers for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements this school year. Congratulations students! Umby’s Army
R.J. Umberger is excited to welcome youth and their families from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Down Syndrome Association to each Blue Jackets game this season. R.J. is proud to help these organizations ensure that all persons with Down syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis have the opportunity to achieve their potential in all aspects of community life through support and advocacy.
Bruise Brothers
Derek Dorsett and Jared Boll have teamed up this season to support active duty military in Ohio. The two jackets players are excited to welcome these soldiers and their families from around the state. View Bruise Brothers video.
Brassard's Buddies
Derick Brassard has teamed up this season to join Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Ohio in working to develop relationships that inspire youth to be confident, competent, and caring individuals in our community by inviting youth and their Big Brother or Sister mentors to join Brassard’s Buddies at Blue Jackets home games this season. Commodore's Crue
Each game, Mike Commodore generously donates tickets throughout the season to invite a family from Easter Seals to enjoy dinner and a Blue Jackets game. Mike is proud to help Easter Seals fulfill their mission of providing exceptional services to ensure that people living with autism and other disabilities have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play. Czech Mates
Rostislav Klesla, Jan Hejda, and Jakub Voracek welcome their Czech Mates to all Blue Jackets home games throughout the season. As part of their generous commitment to the Blue Jackets Foundation and dedication to making the Central Ohio community a better place for kids and families, these players welcome representatives of the Czech culture to each Jackets home game. Lady Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets wives and girlfriends are an integral part of the Blue Jackets Foundation’s community outreach programming and fundraising. Each season, the wives and girlfriends help the Foundation generously host the following events in addition to representing the Foundation at luncheons, outside events, hospital visits, and more.
