Since its inception more than eight years ago, the original concept of Hats For Heroes served a dual purpose – to sell specially designed hats to raise money for both pediatric cancer research and support programs; and to donate hats to kids whose appearance signals the side effects of their chemotherapy or radiation. Hats For Heroes is just the beginning. The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation also has a wide variety of programs to support pediatric cancer patients and their families. There are over 1300 children currently in cancer treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital, the hospital continues to follow 10,000 children who have undergone treatment for pediatric cancer.
